As a marriage celebrant in beautiful Coffs Harbour, easily one of the most powerful and truly emotive moments is the giving away of a beautiful bride or partner. There’s nothing quite like it. Of course, not all couples opt for a giving away, but when they do, it is such a special moment to witness. Whether it’s the bride’s or partners father, mother, grandparents, siblings, or children walking down the aisle arm in arm signals the start of a magical experience.

It’s hard not to get caught up in the emotion of the giving away, I do try my best, but all it takes is one look at their face beaming with pride and that’s all I need to realise I am truly part of something special. As a father of two girls, my day will come I am sure – and yes I will be a blubbering mess as I too will walk down the aisle one day with my daughters. I do remind them though there’s no hurry!

This is a beautiful photo that Fiona shared with me from their wedding last weekend. I look at the smile on Fiona’s Dad’s face and I think to myself, what an honour it is to be a marriage celebrant. A marriage celebrant that still knows how to ease any nerves, yet respecting the tradition of giving the bride away and cherishing every moment along the way.

Love my job!
