To be married in Australia you must be;

  • Over the age of 18 years
  • Consenting to marry the other person
  • Not married to another person
  • Not related to the other person
  • Able to provide one months notice of your intent to marry
  • Voluntarily willing to enter into the marriage for life
  • Be able to provide evidence of your place of birth and identity

Prior to the day of marriage, if you are born in Australia, you will need to produce your original Birth Certificate or Australian passport. If you were born outside Australia you will need to produce either your original Birth Certificate or your overseas Passport. You must complete, sign, have witnessed and lodged with me a Notice Of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month prior to the proposed wedding date. When you lodge this form with me you will need to produce certain documents depending on your circumstance.

These documents may include the following:

Your original birth certificate
The original Decree Absolute (proof of divorce) in the case of previous marriage
The original death certificate in the case of the death of a previous spouse
Your passports (if you are visiting from overseas)
A current or expired (but not cancelled) Australian passport
Photo identification such as a drivers licence
The first step is filling out a Notice Of Intended Marriage (or NOIM).

Simply click here to download the PDF and print. You will find instructions and notes that will assist you in completing the NOIM.  For step by step guidance how to complete your NOIM just click here.  If you prefer we can complete this together at our next appointment.

In each situation I will guide and assist you in ensuring the form is completed with minimal fuss.

You will also need to sign a Declaration stating that you believe there is no legal impediment to the marriage between yourself and your partner. I will supply and witness this document

On the day of your marriage you must have two witnesses over the age of 18 years.

  • We can’t thank you enough for making our wedding day so special. We truly appreciate the time you took getting to know us. Almost three months later and our guests still comment on how beautiful the ceremony was. We had such a fun day and you topped it off with your relaxed nature and great sense of humour.

  • Having known Simon on a personal level, I was more than happy to ask him to be the celebrant for our wedding. I loved that he put a personal touch to our ceremony and found he put us at ease throughout the wedding organisation. I highly recommend Simon for his professionalism and wonderful personality.

  •

Simon was a pleasure to deal with. We felt our ceremony was unique and special. We just loved how Simon put in a story at the start of our story of how we met, fell in love and became engaged. Thank you so very much Simon, I will definitely recommend you to future family and friends. 11 out of 10 for a great ceremony.

  • Simon redefines the way a ceremony should be.  Words can’t describe how happy we were with everything he did.  Thank you again!
