To be married in Australia you must be;
Prior to the day of marriage, if you are born in Australia, you will need to produce your original Birth Certificate or Australian passport. If you were born outside Australia you will need to produce either your original Birth Certificate or your overseas Passport. You must complete, sign, have witnessed and lodged with me a Notice Of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month prior to the proposed wedding date. When you lodge this form with me you will need to produce certain documents depending on your circumstance.
These documents may include the following:
Your original birth certificate
The original Decree Absolute (proof of divorce) in the case of previous marriage
The original death certificate in the case of the death of a previous spouse
Your passports (if you are visiting from overseas)
A current or expired (but not cancelled) Australian passport
Photo identification such as a drivers licence
The first step is filling out a Notice Of Intended Marriage (or NOIM).
Simply click here to download the PDF and print. You will find on page two of this document, instructions and notes that will assist you in completing the NOIM. If you prefer we can complete this together at our next appointment.
In each situation I will guide and assist you in ensuring the form is completed with minimal fuss.
You will also need to sign a Declaration stating that you believe there is no legal impediment to the marriage between yourself and your partner. I will supply and witness this document
On the day of your marriage you must have two witnesses over the age of 18 years.
Brett and I would just like to thank you once again for being the celebrant for our wedding at Boat Harbour Beach. You were above and beyond all of our expectations. It was obvious that you made a real effort to get to know us individually and as a couple, but what really stood out to me is that you REALLY listened to what we wanted to portray about us and our love. You set the mood beautifully and everyone has commented on what a beautiful, fun and romantic ceremony it was. Thank you for giving us exactly what we wanted and we feel any other couple will be lucky to have you as their celebrant. We can’t recommend you anymore highly.
Having known Simon on a personal level, I was more than happy to ask him to be the celebrant for our wedding. I loved that he put a personal touch to our ceremony and found he put us at ease throughout the wedding organisation. I highly recommend Simon for his professionalism and wonderful personality.
Simon made us feel at ease from our first contact through to the conclusion of the ceremony. Simon’s confident, professional and positive approach made the preparation and ceremony a breeze! We sincerely thank him for his contribution to our wedding.
Simon, we want to thank you for being part our celebrant, for marrying us and for being a huge part of our beautiful day. Our ceremony was everything we wanted – relaxed, personal and special. We appreciate your guidance throughout it all. Thank you. With love Karlee and Luke.
Dear Simon. Thank you for making our day perfect and absolutely memorable. So many of our family and friends commented on your ceremony and how your professionalism and presentation along with your caring and understanding nature assisted with what was a truly remarkable experience. Thank you for including our son throughout the proceedings and a huge thank you for being so understanding towards the interesting dynamics of our families and parents.
There is no possible way to thank you for the effort that you went to, to make our ceremony as personal and perfect as it was. Almost two months on people are still talking about how wonderful you and our ceremony was. Thank you so much Simon from the bottom of our hearts. You made our day perfect.
